PERFORMANCE
Subaru Solterra

We all know electric SUVs can go the distance. Can they also go off-road? Can they also tackle tough turf? With a thorough look at the performance capabilities of the Solterra and the bZ4X, we’ve uncovered that anything is possible with these electric SUVs.

Go Electric Anywhere

You’re not afraid to get out there, and neither is the Subaru Solterra. This SUV comes with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which makes driving in all weather or on all terrain possible. Think of all the exciting new places you can explore!

On the other side, the Toyota bZ4X comes standard with Front-Wheel Drive, which helps in efficiency. However, an All-Wheel Drive variant is available.

Stay on Course

Only an uneven path stands between you and your campsite. You can easily avoid undercarriage damage in both models thanks to their high ground clearances:

  • Subaru Solterra: 8.3-inch ground clearance
  • Toyota bZ4X: 8.1-inch ground clearance

What the Solterra has over the Toyota is standard X-MODE® with Downhill Assist Control. This system lets you choose the ideal traction setting for the road (or trail) conditions ahead. That commute to your campsite will be smooth regardless of the number of divots in the road!

When equipped with All-Wheel Drive, the Toyota also has an X-MODE® feature.

INTERIOR
Subaru Solterra

Trips to the lake draw a crowd. Fortunately, the Subaru and the Toyota have the space to accommodate. Between their convenient upholstery and spacious cargo holds, you can make the most out of your aquatic adventures.

Adventure Without a Trace

The Solterra boasts 95.8 cubic feet of passenger room. The bZ4X is right on its tail with 94.4 cubic feet.

Once a day of swimming, boating, and fishing has ended, you need to transport your wet and dirty gear home! Available StarTex-trimmed upholstery in the Subaru is ready for it. This upholstery is water-repellant and stain-resistant; so, your dog’s muddy paws or your damp clothes won’t leave a mess that can’t be cleaned.

The Toyota only is available with fabric or SofTex®-trimmed seats.

Pack What Matters

Speaking of gear, the Solterra has a larger trunk. You’ll have 29 cubic feet of space to fill with coolers, floaties, you name it. In the bZ4X, you’ll have a 27.7-cubic foot trunk, which is close to the Subaru’s capacity. However, a slightly larger cargo hold means more flexibility for your equipment.

TECHNOLOGY
Subaru Solterra

Staying attentive and connected while on the road is a must, especially when you have a remote campsite in your wake. Fortunately, the Subaru Solterra and the Toyota bZ4X both have standard safety suites and fully integrated cockpits to look out for you.

A Trip on the Safe Side

When the adventure bug strikes, you may be going into the wild, but your travels will certainly be stable thanks to EyeSight® Driver Assist Technologies in the Solterra and Toyota Safety Sense™ 3.0 in the bZ4X. Both safety suites share similar systems, including:

  • Pre-Collision Braking
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
  • Blind Spot Monitor
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Parking Support Brake

When you arrive at your destination, each model’s Safety Exit Alert feature will warn you of anything passing your door before you open it.

Go Hands-Free Off the Grid

The cockpits are comprehensive in the Subaru and the Toyota. Both models provide a 12.3-inch multimedia display that supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration!

Plus, both SUVs offer an innovative way to connect with your SUV without being in it. You can subscribe with the Solterra Connect app or the Toyota’s Remote Connect with Digital Key to access locking/unlocking capabilities as well as remote starting!

The difference? The Subaru’s system is also voice-activated, which means you can climb into the cabin and say, “Hey, Subaru,” before a command to get its attention. You get to remain hands-free in the process! Unfortunately, the Toyota goes without a similar voice control feature.
